− Very noisy helmet
− Integrated Sun-Visor doesn’t go all the way up
Looking to stay cool on long rides? The AGV K3 SV is packed full of features. It has excellent ventilation, plenty of room for intercoms systems, an anti-scratch/anti-fog visor with a micro-slider, integrated sun-visor, and a washable liner. Unfortunately, however, when not in use the sun-visor still obscures vision slightly, as it doesn’t retract all the way up.
This helmet features an Extra Quick Release System (XQRS) visor mechanism. This makes switching visors quick and easy. The visor also comes with an anti-fog Pinlock. There are plenty of exhaust ports which does make the helmet quite noisy, so it’s recommended to use earplugs.
With a shell constructed from polycarbonate, it still scores an impressive 4/5 stars on the Safety Helmet Assessment and Rating Programme (SHARP) test. This helmet takes place as yet another excellent entry-level option and is the best full-face helmet.

− Integrated sun-visor slider is awkward to operate
− Visor opening clip is small
− Lacks a chin curtain
Are you looking for an entry-level helmet that offers a lot of functionality as well as protection? Look no further than the Shark Ridill. With features like an integrated sun visor, quick release visor, micrometric fastener, and a removable/washable liner with glasses grooves, Shark covers most bases. Constructed using Polycarbonate, it still manages to score a 4/5 on the SHARP safety test. The helmet is also Pinlock ready and comes included in the box.
The integrated sun-visor is fairly tricky to find and operate. It might some time to build up the confidence to use it while riding. Also, the visor opening clip can be awkward to use to the small size, so again, it will take some time to get used to. Although this helmet lacks a chin curtain and an exhaust vent, airflow remains spectacular, thanks to the efficiency of the air channelling. There are some unique and attractive graphics to choose from on this helmet. Although it may not be to everyone’s tastes, the designs on offer won’t be found anywhere else.
Bell Qualifier

Helmet Style: Full-Face
Certifications: SHARP 3 Stars | DOT | ECE 22.05

Sizes: XS-XXXL
Shell Sizes: 3
Weight: 1.56kg
Pinlock Compatible: No

+ 5 Year Warranty
+ Excellent Ventilation
+ Features a wind collar
− 3 star SHARP rating
− no chin or nose guard
− difficult to use with glasses
Searching for a helmet that you can wear comfortably all year round from a reputable brand? The Bell Qualifier is the answer. This helmet features air vents placed strategically all around the helmet, which can be opened and closed depending on the temperature. The ability to regulate the amount of air hitting your face is a wonderful addition. Thanks to this feature as well as the Nutrafog II coating on the visor, fogging is minimised with this helmet. This combined with the interior padding that has been contoured with laser technology, guarantees comfortability in all conditions and climates.
With integrated speaker pockets, a wind collar, and a Bell ClickRelease mechanism for the visor, there are not many helmets out there that can compete. Like all Bell helmets, the Qualifier also comes with a 5-year warranty.
Unfortunately, it lacks a chin and nose guard plus it is slightly difficult to use with glasses. It is DOT and ECE 22.05 certified, however, it is only rated 3/5 stars with SHARP, due to a vulnerability on the side of the helmet. Although the Bell Qualifier doesn’t rate as highly with SHARP, it still manages to be one of the safest entry-level helmets on the market.
HJC C70

Helmet Style: Full-Face
Certifications: SHARP 5 Stars | DOT | ECE 22.05
Shell: Polycarbonate
Sizes: XS-XXL
Shell Sizes: 2
Weight: 1.5kg
Pinlock Compatible: Yes | Not Included
Included Visor: Clear Visor
Liner: Removable | Washable
Intercoms Compatible: No
Eyewear Compatible: Yes
+ 5 Star SHARP rating
+ Quick Release Visor
+ Removable & washable liner
− No integrated speaker pockets
− Doesn’t come with pinlock
− Cheek pads can be very tight at first
Are you looking for one of the safest budget helmets on the market? The HJC C70 scored an incredible 5/5 stars on the SHARP safety test. The features in this helmet include a drop-down sun visor, Pinlock (an anti-fog insert) compatibility with a quick-release system, low weight, removable and washable liner, and incredible peripheral vision. The vent slider located on the top of the helmet is operated easily. No need to do guesswork before you start riding.
Unfortunately, there are a few downsides to this helmet. The cheek pads, depending on head shape, can be too tight-fitting and will take time to wear in. There is also no integrated speaker pockets. This helmet also does not come with a pinlock visor, despite being pinlock ready.
AGV K1

Helmet Style: Full-Face
Certifications: ECE 22.05 | DOT
Shell: Polycarbonate
Sizes: XS-XXL
Shell Sizes: 2
Weight: 1.52kg
Pinlock Compatible: Yes | Included
Included Visor: Clear Visor
Liner: Dri-Lex | Removable | Washable
Intercoms Compatible: Yes
Eyewear Compatible: Yes
+ Great peripheral vision
+ Easy to adjust visor with XQRS
+ Removable, washable & antibacterial liner
− Noisy helmet without ear protection
− Doesn’t come with a Pinlock
− Velcro that holds liner can be irritating
With an appearance similar to the AGV Pista at a fifth of the price, it’s great to see an entry-level racing style helmet that looks like it belongs at the MotoGP. The AGV K1 is a sleek and aerodynamic helmet that features superb airflow and exhaust capabilities. Although, due to the racing design, it can be rather noisy.
Packed with a wide visor that minimizes blind spots, it does not compromise on your vertical field of view. This is also paired with an Extra Quick Release System (XQRS) which makes swapping visors a simple task rather than a chore. Unfortunately, however, although it is Pinlock compatible, it doesn’t come with one in the box.
The shell may be thermoplastic, but AGV has proven that they can create helmets that rank 4/5 stars on the SHARP test regularly. This paired with the washable Dri-Lex liner ensures a safe and comfortable design. On the downside, the Velcro that holds the top-head liner above the eyebrows is oversized making it poke and rub up against your forehead. But for this price, an issue like this is easy to dismiss. Plus the liner is removable, washable and antibacterial.
Top 5 Full Face Helmets Final Thoughts
The AGV K3 SV tops the list as the most feature-packed helmet of this price range whilst maintaining a high level of protection and comfort, with the Shark Ridill closely behind. The Bell Qualifier would have taken the #2 spot if not for its SHARP rating of 3/5. The HJC C70 is one of the safest helmets on the market although it is quite barebones in regards to features. Finally, the AGV K1 is highly recommended for anyone beginning their journey into the world of riding.
